Gale Klappa

Gale Klappa is executive chairman of WEC Energy Group — parent company of We Energies.  

Based in Milwaukee, WEC Energy Group is one of the nation’s premier energy companies, serving 4.6 million electric and natural gas customers in Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota.

Gale has more than 40 years of experience working in the energy industry, the last 25 at a senior executive level. From May 2004, Gale served as chairman and chief executive officer of Wisconsin Energy and We Energies. Under his leadership, the company successfully completed its June 2015 acquisition of Integrys Energy Group, at which time he assumed those same roles for WEC Energy Group.

Gale is a member of the board of directors of Associated Banc-Corp and Badger Meter Inc. He is co-chair of the Milwaukee 7. In addition, Gale owns a minority interest in the Milwaukee Bucks – a National Basketball Association franchise.

Currently an executive committee member of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC), he was MMAC chairman from 2007 to 2009. He also serves on the UWM School of Business Advisory Council.
