Milwaukee Small Business Owner Needs Financial Support After Hit and Run Auto Collision

MILWAUKEE (October, 2022) – A devastating hit and run auto collision has left Devon Evans with a broken neck and temporarily disabled. Devon is the proud owner, chef, and operator of AJ Crunch and Munch, a local Milwaukee food truck and catering service that happens to be the family’s primary source of income. August of last year the family lost their home and most of their life savings in a house fire. Compounded with the uncertainty of Devon’s recovery, the Evans family is facing a drastic struggle to survive financially.

A product of the Social Development Commissions Culinary program Devon opened AJ’s Crunch and Munch to help overcome his and his family’s financial struggles. With much perseverance and dedication the food truck and pop-up restaurant has been serving the city of Milwaukee and surrounding counties since February of 2020. To further the success of his business Devon participated in BizStarts entrepreneurial bootcamp, the “BizStarts Institute” in the spring of 2022 only furthering his display of hard work and dedication to his business.

“Devon has a great work ethic and we are hoping this is a temporary setback until we can get him back on his feet. He is one of BizStarts most promising food entrepreneurs and he is a beloved member of the BizStarts family. I hope the people of Milwaukee give with their hearts. Let’s turn something inspirational from this tragedy” said, Frank Cumberbatch Chairperson of the Board of BizStarts.

Devon is still unsure of the severity of his injury and length of recovery, but is hopeful they will re-open within the next 3 to 4 months. In the meantime, BizStarts has started a GoFundMe campaign to support the Evans family and attempt to alleviate stress and financial burden during this difficult time. Devon is an incredible example to other small business entrepreneurs and deserves the help of our community. The campaign can be found here:
